Lauren’s Baptism

2007.08.11-011

I know it’s been too long since the last post, but we’ve been busy! This past weekend was especially interesting- storms came through around 3 am on Saturday morning and we lost power at the house until Sunday afternoon! Lauren’s baptism was Saturday evening so we had to cook the whole meal on the grill and then open her gifts while wearing a head lamp… pretty funny. We then packed up some coolers and most of the house (at least it feels like that with all of Lauren’s things) and headed up to St. Cloud after hearing that the power could be out until Tuesday. Wouldn’t you know, the power came back on shortly after arriving at the Kecks. So we’re back at home and enjoying air-conditioning and TV again.

Lauren did very well during the church service, with just a few cries as she woke up during the baptism. She wore a gown that is over 60 years old and was also worn by her great aunt Marilyn Keck and her Auntie Erin. Erin and Uncle Jeff are her sponsors, although Jeff and Jon were unable to come from Portland. Great grandpa Paul and great grandma Merle were both here and it was fun to have so many family and friends share Lauren’s special day with her. It was definitely a memorable evening for everyone!

Steph and Josh – what a wonderful video! Grandpa Nick was still in awe of all that happened tonight when I spoke with him.

Wow!! Your video of Lauren and her baptism and her stretching and grunting brought beautiful tears to my eyes. How tender. Nicely done. You three are a beautiful family. I can’t wait to meet Lauren and see you, Steph, on Friday morning.

Your mom, Josh, is sooooooooo proud of you two! And of course, of Lauren.

    Again, nicely done!!

    Enjoy your miracle of love.

    Sue

I love the videos! It will be so great for Lauren to watch someday and see what her special day was like. What a special day it was! I can say pretty confidently that Lauren’s baptism will be the most memorable in the Keck family for a long time :)
    Love, Erin
PS- I can’t get enough of her face in the photo with her and the cake. I think I have looked at it 15 times already! Too funny, too cute.

Yes, Lauren, your baptism was one for ALL of us to remember as “The Little House on the (Eden) Prairie” baptism!! Our precious “little lamb” you were . . . and what a wonderful video for you to watch someday!
Steph and Josh, you both were so “cool” (HA!) even tho things got kind of crazy! (Could Manda use an iron as a house-warming gift???) And what a fantastic meal, Josh! Only you could pull that off and keep your sense of humor, too!
Thanks for all the wonderful pictures and the memories of our little Lauren, Child of God, and such a miracle to all of us! Love, Grandma Mary and Grandpa Nick
